  • Interior of ArenaEquestrian Center, Sherwood, Oregon
This 42 acre site features a forty four stall horse training facility design, primarily for dressage. This extensive equestrian show facility has two indoor arenas, a 90' x 252' indoor arena with heated spectator area, clubhouse, vet room, wash stalls, tack rooms, grooming stalls, restrooms with showers, and offices. The second floor of the clubhouse contains audio-video equipment and is an announcer's booth for shows. Attached by a covered breezeway is a 66' x 132' arena with a spectator's bench on a raised platform behind a five foot kick wall. The attached five stall barn includes isolation stalls, laundry, tack room, rest room, wash/grooming stall, and lined feed room. Across the covered courtyard is hay and shavings storage. The structure also includes a garage, workshop, and covered trailer parking. Our equestrian facility planning and design services include site development for six all-weather round pens for turnout, two which are to be covered, ten pastures with grassed lanes between, three full court outdoor competition arenas with spectator seating, and judges stands, and a 125' x 250' warm up arena. The site is designed to accommodate dressage shows with temporary stalls for 120 horses and parking areas for trucks, vans, and RVs. A permanent structure for bathrooms, showers, and vendors is planned. Storm water from the roofs is channeled into a pond and stream which the entry road crosses. The site is enclosed with a perimeter fence, automatic gates, with a riding trail around the perimeter. The entire structure is covered by fire sprinklers and automatic sprinklers cover each indoor arena for dust control. Site design required a new entry be constructed off a state highway. Constructed 1998-2001.
  • New ExerciserFrench Hill Farm, Wilsonville, Oregon
Equine Facility Design was involved in the renovation of this existing hunter/jumper horse training facility of 45 stalls. • Show PictureHunter Creek Farm, Wilsonville, Oregon
This 120 acre site has been developed as a show venue, primarily for hunter/jumper shows and hosts six to eight shows during the summer season. The facility currently has a four acre grass grand prix field, four outdoor arenas and a 200’ x 300’ warm up area. Currently shows utilize portable stalls for shows of up to 700 horses. The facility master plan designed by Equine Facility Design includes future improvements of two indoor competition arenas with viewing stands, concession, restrooms and shower facilities, 400 permanent show stalls, vet and farrier facilities, and expanded parking areas. On this project, Equine Facility Design used the conceptual drawings created by Owen Homes to complete this 8,000 square foot 12 stall horse barn design. The project required presentation and approval to planning commission at public hearing. The project includes a 150' x 300' outdoor riding arena design, mechanical exerciser, and layout of paddocks on this 11 acre site. Constructed 2001-2002
  • Exterior of BarnPrivate Equestrian Facility, Fall City, Washington

The barn has nine stalls, wash/groom stalls, office, and support spaces on the first floor and a laboratory and storage areas on the second floor. The office and laboratory have windows into the indoor horse riding arena design. The riding arena is day lit from roll-up glass garage doors, translucent panel clerestories, and a translucent panel gable end wall. Site layout; driveways; an outdoor arena; pastures; and a storage building with a manure bunker were also included in the property development. Constructed 2004-2005.

  • Existing FacilityThe Equestrian Center at Golden Gate Park Stables,
    San Francisco, California
As part of the design team, Equine Facility Design is working to preserve the historic and cultural use of horses in the park as well as the architecturally significant stables structures. Originally constructed in 1935 under the Works Progress Administration program, four existing stable buildings will be renovated and the equestrian center will gain two new barns, an indoor riding arena design, hay barn, and educational center. The center will expose the San Francisco community to the recreational benefits of horseback riding in the park and educate participants on riding and horsemanship. • Front of Retirement BarnWild Turkey Farm, Wilsonville, Oregon
